I went to the Meyer Center yesterday, and had the privilege of serving over fifty people lunch. We find that during cold spells, the more hard core homeless come to the center. As usual I did not really have a meal planned out(I have kind of a rotating menu) But I decided to make ham fettuccine, which is ham and noodles in a cheesy rich sauce. It is high calorie which is a need for those that are stuck in the cold for extended amounts of time. I also serve koolaid or gatorade for the vitamins and sugar. My budget has been tight the last couple of months, due to rise in food cost, rise in need and having to buy the plates/cups also. My church budgets 50 bucks a week for this meal. But you know , God does not buy into that tight budget thing, of course He wants us to be good stewards of His money, but I have never ran short or turned anyone away with out something warm to eat! The amazing thing about yesterday is I knew it would be a full house, and what I was led to serve can get expensive quick(Velveeta runs about 5 or 6 bucks a carton) but I prayed to entire time I was in HEB, I knew God could provide all I would need with what I could spend, along with the ability to make sure everyone that was hungry would be filled! When getting the supplies, I would usually need two hams and two of everything else to feed fifty... but God placed a word to only buy one of each item other than the noodles, I was obedient and bought one ham, one carton of white velveeta, one carton of sour cream and one pint of half and half and one small packet of swiss cheese... God supplied to ablity to manafest two large steam table trays of food with this, we had plenty of casserole, plenty of koolaid and beans and cookies for everyone that wanted to eat seconds. God is just that good... we served close to one hundred meals, with what a worldly view would serve 25... it just doubled then tripled!
So when I talked to the poeple there I spoke of God's goodness and how He longs to bless us with not only what we need but according to His riches in glory! He is rich in patience, rich in kindness, rich in strength, rich in LOVE and rich in mercy! Accomplishments here on earth will come and fade away but GOD is eternal and so many times we do not realize how rich we are until we abide in Him and know that He loves us with a rich lavish love!
Just as encouragment know that the things that we see here are temporary, but the things that are unseen will last forever(2nd Corinthians 4:18)
